“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.” – Steve Jobs
And as you procrastinate running for the bus
Because you forgot to allow time to bath
And you left few minutes late to begin with
With your shoes that small
And your pants that crawl
Since you stopped eating again
And as you were looking through your bag
Looking for keys, books, assignments
That you’re not sure you wrote down to begin with
Let us now praise you.
You, the wrecked.
You, the careless.
You, the easily distracted by all that glitters.
The money you spend on goodwill
The aura you bring in
And that despite your best efforts,
You rarely eat a proper meal,
You almost never get enough sleep
And exercise seems like a nuisance that magazines have developed
Just to make you feel bad about yourself.
But you are great and courageous.
You always flying by the seat of your pants
Making it work
Putting out fires
Saying your prayers
And dancing now so that you could live the moment
As innocent as each morning’s sunrise,
You bring in good intentions.
Your good humour is as graceful as a baby,
Even if that joke or prank you were trying to do, fell flat
You have gifts that no one knows about.
You have the strength to bend in the wind
You have the joyful spirit that loves a good hearty laugh,
You have the wisdom to understand that everything will all come out all right
You have the faith to light a candle rather than curse the darkness.
You are the one who forgot your wallet and probably everything that matters
But you never forget to greet people.
And you never fail to show endless patience when the people yell at you
So start giving yourself a compliment for something you did well today.
Because you may be the great person you may think you are.
But where did we go wrong?
You also never forget to check the phone for notifications
Likes. Comments. Messages. Tweets. Photos.
Oh, so well you are trapped inside your own world
You forget to think, create something outside the box.
Where are those days when you were late and you decided not to go to college? Spend some time on something you are doing. Original. Not something on those TV shows and trying to create something already shown so many times.
Where are those days when people used to think instead of running around for money?
So engrossed in our world, we never take time to appreciate. Granted. So should we start praising ourselves? But have each one of us done anything so original to be worthy enough of the praise?
The idea to wake up in morning and do something to make this world a better place is what will take us, as a species ahead.
Steve Jobs, has rightly said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.
Be someone whom people will follow.
Create something unique.
